PREVENTING & DOCUMENTING THEFT
We had two break-ins this summer. Both of them were young teenagers. The CameraScan System helped us identify who they were, when they came in, how they came in. We were able to pin them down and resolve the issue because of the evidence we had from our CameraScan System. We were able to burn it on to a disk so they could take it with them down to the precinct. One of [the teenagers] worked for me. The kid showed up for work the next day, and I had his face freeze framed on the monitor. Obviously he started sweating bullets. He had to see himself on recorded video. That in itself fixed the problem. We don't have that problem with him or the other fellows anymore. - Chad Tachell, Carnation Golf
The neighbor to our main branch had a robbery. He didn't have the security that we have in place, but our CameraScan System was able to catch the robber's car as they went by our business at 3:00 in the morning. Not only was it good for the credit union, but it also served another purpose in assisting the police. They were very happy we had this system in place.
- Linda Larion, Sno Falls Credit Union
The outside cameras can also pick up the make and model of a car of a person that has shoplifted or written us a bad check. - Carol Stevens, Stevens Family Market |

HAVING DOCUMENTED PROOF
[One man] came in yelling that his wife got hurt in here, and that’s why she couldn’t hold on to her drink and spilled it and the carpet in his new truck was ruined and that we should pay! He wanted compensation for damage and injury. It would have been thousands and thousands of dollars. So we just walked him back in here and said ‘Look at the tape.” After he was done he walked out the door yelling at his wife!
- Nancy Volpert, Skate King
We’ve had customers say that they had their credit card stolen. They can come in here and see who the person is using their card. Sometimes they recognize it as their ex- boyfriend, or their sister or brother. It’s phenomenal what this CameraScan System has done for us and the community!
- Noel Gibb, N&R Automotive
We print four pictures in a grid. One showing the customers car sitting at the pump island, one showing the customer walking in the front door, one showing him being rung up, and one with the sales slip that last grid, showing that they didn’t ring the gas up. We do that with almost any error. It shows a real sequence. It shows what happens here, and who did what. And we hold them accountable.

ELIMINATING EMPLOYEE THEFT
This is one reason it is nice to have the counter view is that you can see the customer picking everything up and leaving the store so you know it’s paid for. One clerk was getting the money from the customers and pocketing the money. And that’s how we happened to catch her.
-
Clarence Biggs, 7-Eleven
Without having the CameraScan System in place, it would have been very hard to prove that something was going on. I knew these ladies forever and I thought I could trust them. When I saw what they were doing, they did it so casually and easily, I know it was going on all the time.
- Sherry Lazzarini, Dominic's Farm Fresh Produce
We keep an eye on the gas tanks. You might have an employee that says that they put five gallons of gas into a vehicle to put on the lot, when in fact it was their own car that they drove back there. That’s been an issue in the past. But they know there’s a camera now, they know it’s working, and so it’s not a problem.

KEEPING EMPLOYEES HONEST
We've definitely had less shrinkage in the bar. I mean the shrinkage went away! It’s been a good system. We won’t go without it. It’s a deterrent to keep the honest person honest.
-
Ted, Rolling Hills Golf Club
The system has exceeded my expectations. I am elated to have it. It keeps everybody honest. It also give me the assurance when I speak to an employee about something that's wrong, I have the proof to show them. It keeps them busy, keeps them honest. During the down time production is up. The respect for my business has grown tremendously among the employees because they know that I can tell what's going on.

PREVENTING SHOPLIFTING
This lady came into the salon and she brought in an empty bag. She started going around the store taking stuff off the shelves and filling her bag. Then she brought it up to the counter and said she got all this stuff from her grandma and wanted to bring it back. It was so busy in there the gal didn’t see it, but by me seeing it on the tape, you know, you could tell. We actually had given her a store credit for over $150.00 for her to come back the next day. The cops came in early and watched the tape, so they just waited for her to come. Once she got there, they arrested her. - Tammy White, Crown Hair Design
We had an individual that was our buddy. You know, a good guy! We started looking a little closer and could see where this person had come in. He had 2-3 clubs in his hands, was fiddling around, talking and distracting. And then he’s gone, and a piece of equipment is gone. We could identify in the camera how many pieces he had when he’d come in and how many pieces he’d had when he left. I called the Sheriff…That was directly from the camera.

MONITORING STAFF
I like to see that my staff is greeting the guests right away and saying goodbye, please come back again. That they're acknowledging them. That's been very helpful.
-Cathy Harris, Gordy's Barbeque & Steak House
It’s good to help monitor staff as well because I can’t be there all the time. I watch and find out if things aren’t getting done. I can tell if so and so just sat on the phone all night long and that’s why nothing got done or if some of their responsibilities weren’t being taken care of. It helps keep them more honest as far as what they are supposed to be doing if they know that I’m going to be watching.
- Tammy White, Crown Hair Design |

SAFETY & SECURITY
One of the kids has a problem with one of the skateboarders and he starts shooting at the skateboarder with his paint gun. So the park department guy calls me down here at the precinct and tells me about it. I turn the camera on just in time to see the paint blotting out things all over the skate park. As I’m watching this, I send one of my officers down there and he catches the kid just as he’s leaving. That worked out great!
- Dave Hill, Chief of Police, Goldendale PD
One of the things that I like is that newly hired employees are very impressed that they are so well protected. They think, “Wow, if I’m here by myself I don’t have to worry”. Or if anything should come up missing, they don’t have to worry that they’re under suspicion. So there are a lot of uses for this CameraScan System.
- Noel Gibb, N&R Automotive
We are really relieved that we can go home and look at this on the computer in actual time. I close one night a week, and Gene can watch me walk out the front door and get into my car which I park right in front and know that I am safe, as well as any of the other managers who are leaving after close. If anything’s amiss, he’ll see it and can call 911 and someone can be there in a sec. You don’t feel like you’re really alone any longer, because you’re really not. - Carol Stevens, Stevens Family Market |

EXCELLENT SERVICE & SUPPORT
We’ve had that system for how many years now, seven or eight years? And how many times have we had to call you guys to come and fix something? ZERO! You get what you pay for. Buy the better quality. It’s going to last you and it’s going to be there when you really need it.
- Dave Hill, Chief of Police, Goldendale PD
The follow up by your company to support us in this effort has been outstanding... We expect our system to pay for itself time and time again.
- Dan Rowe, Evergreen Ford
I never feel like I’ve been cheated by CameraScan. I never feel like I get gouged or dinged. I just get honest advice. He gave me a great deal on a few components for my system that I could afford, which meant that I was able to keep this system running. I totally trust what the owners have to say.
- Nancy Volpert, Skate King |

EASE OF USE
My CameraScan System is very easy to use and the service is great. I knew exactly what I was getting, and it's done exactly what it was supposed to do, so I am a very satisfied customer.
- Chad Tachell, Carnation Golf
Our CameraScan System works great. It’s really easy to use. I would definitely advise others to go with your company because we’ve been really happy with the service that we’ve had.
- Tammy White, Crown Hair Design
The ease of use to review the video is awesome. It is extremely user-friendly. This system’s software is well designed and immune from the software issues we have had with the PC-based systems. CameraScan’s service has been excellent! - Mike Riddle, Sedro Woolley High School |
|
VERIFYING REGISTER TRANSACTIONS
We use the system quite a bit just to check things out at the counter, make sure everything's being run through the cash register, not giving it away to their friends. It's the best money you could spend to help deter theft and to help manage areas that you can't observe all the time.
- Jim Borne, North Shore Golf
At the time we had some sub-generic cigarettes, that were with tax $3. We had one individual who would ring it up $3 on the lotto key. The amount tendered to the register, and what the customer sees, was the correct amount and the money was ok. And then he would purchase scratch tickets with what he rang up for cigarettes. This camera was right on the register so you could see what he was ringing up and what department it was. You could see a pack of cigarettes going out, but he was actually ringing up on the lotto and playing a lot scratch tickets.
- Clarence Biggs, 7-Eleven |

SAVING MONEY
There have been several occasions where the video system has captured incidences that have saved us thousands of dollars, which without the CameraScan System, would have gone unresolved. The follow up by your company to support us in this effort has been outstanding!
- Dan Rowe, Evergreen Ford
The big losses would be in the exchange of wrong cylinders on the dock. That can be THOUSANDS of dollars a year easily. And that’s where we weighed the price of the CameraScan System against the cylinders themselves. It was an easy decision based on the amount of cylinders we had taken in from other companies that are just a complete loss to us.
- Rich Hargett, Kentox
You have to watch the recorded video. What you see may save you lots and lots of money! I make it a rule to just sort of scan through the recorded video for anything that doesn't look right. It takes hardly any time, and I know I am saving money because I watch the recordings. Since I've been watching the recorded information on my CameraScan System, I know I save money every day.
- Sherry Lazzarini – Dominic’s Farm Fresh Produce |

DETERRING VANDALISM
I have a camera in the classroom at the Klickitat County Juvenile Department. Before we had the CameraScan System the kids would be in there carving their names in the tables and acting out in all sorts of ways. The CameraScan System put a stop to all of that. It makes my job a heck of a lot easier.
- Steve Crow, Sergeant (Juvenile Department), Goldendale Police Department
We are getting to the truth. If you have it on camera, you’ve got proof. The student awareness is great. It helps the good kids feel safe and deters kids that might have the tendency for negative behavior. It’s like having 16 additional sets of eyes!” - Cascade Middle School
CameraScan has stopped the vandalism. It has caught the vandalism that has happened, and we've been able to have the guilty parties come back and pay for what happened.
- Dave Hill, Chief of Police, Goldendale P.D. |
|
MAXIMIZING STAFFING SCHEDULES
One of the biggest benefits of the system is to optimize my employees’ hours in busy and in slow times. Since I can see my business and REALLY see my busy and slow times, I can adjust the schedule to maximize my staffing. By doing this one thing alone, I estimate I am saving $1,200 a month!
- Gordy & Cathy Harris, Gordy’s Barbeque & Steak House
With my system I'm able to see when there's slow times. We've been able to cut down on staffing during certain times of the day. Because of the CameraScan System we've figured out we could save up to $4,000 a month!
- Linda Larion, Sno Falls Credit Union |
|
REDUCING DRIVE-OFFS
These are the times you would expect drive-offs like crazy. It’s getting to be where you have a Suburban come in and fill up...that can be $100. With the CameraScan System I can see the cars and the license plates, so I can catch the drive-offs. - Noel Gibb, N&R Automotive
We used to have anywhere from $100 to $300 in drive-offs every month. Every single one of those drive offs was a customer that walked in the store, did a little shopping, talked to my cashier. They’d chat and pay for their groceries and out the door they’d go. Nobody even knew that they got $15 in free gas. I told my cashiers that they’d be responsible for ones that they made errors on and I’d be responsible for drive offs. [Since installing the CameraScan System] they’ve collected for every single one.
- Mike Purvis, Hood Canal Grocery |

TRAINING NEW EMPLOYEES
I try to look for [my employees] doing something right. That reinforces the fact that if they do something wrong, I’m probably going to catch that too. - Dave, Red Pepper Café
At the cylinder dock, we get a lot of new drivers and/or fillers that exchange the wrong cylinders. If I give out a cylinder and take in the wrong one, that’s a $150 loss for our company. So if that happens 5, 6, 7 times a month over a year’s time, that’s a lot of money! It’s more an educational tool than a “point the finger at somebody.” The loss of cylinders has definitely gone down. Definitely! - Rich Hargett, Kentox |

PREVENTING SWEETHEARTING
We use the system quite a bit just to check things out at the counter, make sure everything's being run through the cash register, not giving it away to their friends. It's the best money you could spend to help deter theft and to help manage areas that you can't observe all the time. - Jim Borne, North Shore Golf
For the most part our biggest problem is keeping track of things that are not extremely important just have a big effect on your profits. Free things. You’ll be watching somebody ring up groceries and you’ll see that maybe one employee gets some kind of preferential treatment which we’ve seen quite a few times. And you’ll ask them later. You can see when they are ringing things up when they’re passing things across the scanner. You can see when something gets skipped. - Mike Purvis, Hood Canal Grocery |

CONTROLLING INVENTORY & SHRINKAGE
Fish was walking out and nobody knew what happened to it. A case of 15 pounds of fish costs you $50 to $60. I felt it was going out two ways, in the trash or in bags. I got tired of searching bags every night when leaving the store so I just put in the cameras and that eliminated all of that. Since I put in the CameraScan System theft has stopped, period. Just stopped dead in its tracks. - Cliff Turner, Cliff's BBQ & Seafood

INCREASING PRODUCTIVITY
It’s good to help monitor staff as well because I can’t be there all the time. I watch and find out if things aren’t getting done. I can tell if so and so just sat on the phone all night long and that’s why nothing got done or if some of their responsibilities weren’t being taken care of. It helps keep them more honest as far as what they are supposed to be doing if they know that I’m going to be watching.
- Tammy White, Crown Hair Design
A CameraScan System is probably the least expensive pair of eyes you can have! When I’m here, I know my employees do a better job, but the minute I leave they become lax. I’m not a slave driver, but if the place has not been cleaned, or they have not fulfilled their responsibility for whatever reason, I can talk to them about it.
- Jim Gillihan, Ocean Beach Chevron
This one cook was consistently not getting anything done for the next day. So I watched the tape and he’s sitting down, he’s watching TV, next thing he’s laying down…I don’t think he actually fell asleep but he was there for an hour. - Dave Webber, Red Pepper Café |
|
PROVING FALSE CLAIMS & LIABILITY
This person claimed he had injured his hand at work at the store. The [video] clearly showed that he just faked a fall over by the fountain drinks. Dropped a couple of ice cubes to make some water on the floor. It was not a real fall.
- Clarence Biggs 7-Eleven
I’ve had calls where people say, “I got hurt at your center and I think you guys should have to pay for my medical bills.” I say, “Well, we’ve got it all on video.” They just kind of go away and I never hear from them again!
- Nancy Volpert, Skate King

HAVING MY PRESENCE FELT
The thing I’ve always worried about was that people were working harder when I was here than when I wasn’t. This system is like having my shadow here all the time.
- John Barrow, Perko’s Koffee Kup
So I try to look for them doing something right and that reinforces the fact that if they do, do something wrong, I am probably going to catch that too. - Dave Webber, Red Pepper Café
I’d definitely encourage that extra set of eyes. You can’t be at your business 24-7. You can’t watch your employees every minute. You can’t watch every single customer that walks in. When you can’t be there all the time, you’ve got CameraScan working for you. – Sherry Lazzarini

SEEING MY BUSINESS FROM HOME
It's beautiful because of the remote access. I can see what's going on from home. I had an alarm call, and instead of having to come down here and see what was happening, I just went to my computer and I could see everything right from where I was at home. It turned out to be nothing, but being able to know for sure without having to leave home gave me a great sense of security. And it saved me a lot of time.
- Chad Tachell, Carnation Golf
A friend of mine and his friend came in because they were friends with the bartender. I sat and watched them just getting their own drinks for about 20 minutes. It was about midnight; we close at nine. He jeopardized my liquor license, and he put his feet on my bar back there! That was it; I jumped in my car and came down here.
- Gordy Harris, Gordy's Barbeque & Steak House
Our personal opinion is that it’s amazing that we can go anywhere in the world and see our bar at any time and know what’s going on. - George Sandefur, Whiskey River Saloon |
